Clover RPG Beginner Guide: Kamo Tutorial and First Magic

Step-by-step Clover RPG beginner route: Chief Farris, the Vulcan weapon choice, Eira, Johan, Old Roderick, Dalen, and the side quests to level 15.

Updated

First goal: follow the Kamo tutorial

Start with Chief Farris in Kamo, then follow the weapon, gathering, flight, mining, combat and guild tasks. After the tutorial, aim for level 15 and Arcane Whispers to obtain magic. The magic guide explains the release walkthrough and why earlier testing guides mention level 10.

Step one: find Chief Farris

Start by finding Chief Farris in Kamo Village; the whole tutorial chain begins with him. Talk to him and the mission line attaches automatically.

From then on, press U at any point to summon the Mission Bird and check where you are. If you lose track of a step, that is the fastest answer — faster than running around looking for an NPC.

Step two: pick a weapon from Vulcan

Head to the blacksmith and talk to Vulcan. You get exactly one of four options:

WeaponClassCharacter
GauntletsLightOld iron fists, fast swings
Novice BladeMediumStraightforward starter sword
LongswordHeavyBlunt, heavy two-hander
Rustic SpearMediumLong reach, built for thrusts

Weapons fall into Light, Medium and Heavy classes, and this choice follows you for a long time — the saved Fandom guide says the selected weapon type cannot be freely changed without wiping the slot. Think before you click: fast attacks mean Light, a safe middle means Medium, and one heavy hit at a time means Heavy.

Step three: gather herbs for Eira

Eira teaches gathering. She wants Wolfsbane and Bamboo; collect enough and hand them in. This step doubles as a map lesson — you are memorising where herb nodes sit, which pays off immediately because Abra's quest later wants five more Wolfsbane. Pick extras while you are out there.

Step four: learn to fly with Johan

Johan wants Cloth and two Wood. Once you deliver those, he sends you on to Old Roderick. The real value of this segment is that it unlocks the broom and flight. Movement across the map changes completely after you can fly, so do not skip it — skipping makes every later errand slower.

Step five: mine for Old Roderick

Mine three ores. The mine sits behind the Great Alchemy Tower, north or northeast of the blacksmith. If you cannot find it, walk north from the blacksmith and circle around the back of the tower.

Mining controls mirror gathering; you are just looking for ore veins instead of plants. You will usually pick up materials for later quests on the way.

Step six: hunt wolves for Captain Dalen

Kill three Wild Wolves outside Kamo, return to Dalen, then report back to Chief Farris. This is your first real combat lesson, and three things matter here:

  • Press Tab and spend your stat points. Do not hoard them.
  • Use the Basic Technique Token in your inventory to unlock a skill — pick the one you will actually use.
  • Practise dodging and parrying on these wolves. Boss fights later depend almost entirely on those two actions.

Step seven: finish with a guild mission

Report to Eleanor at the Kamo Guild Hall, take an F-Rank Mission, complete it, report back, and finally return to Chief Farris. That closes the main tutorial, and you walk away with your first batch of experience and gear.

The side quests that carry you to level 15

Between the end of the tutorial and level 15 sits a stretch of levelling. All of the following are in Kamo, so clearing them together is the efficient route:

QuestTaskNote
HolloDeliver a letter to ReccaPure errand, do it in passing
JavierDefeat 5 NightcharmersInteract with 4 pillars first to summon them; the pillars are north/northeast of the blacksmith
Old Man AdelfusRecover 3 wagon wheelsNear the blacksmith, the inn and the great tower — see the wagon wheel quest
DanielCollect 5 WoodWood can be bought near the blacksmith, so do not chop the whole map
RyzeDeliver a letter to EliciaAnother errand
AbraCollect 5 WolfsbaneCheaper if you gather it alongside Eira's quest
Daeron the DaringComplete three broom racesBroomshroom Zoom, Elden Derby, Kamo Broom Blitz

How the three broom races work

Daeron's quest asks for three tracks: find Tinycap to enter Broomshroom Zoom, find Boone for Kamo Broom Blitz, with Elden Derby in between. Kamo's track lies east or southeast of the blacksmith.

There is one general trick for finding a start line: follow the white location markers on your map. Each race has its own area, and you report back to Daeron after all three. Racing is optional for the main line, but the rewards help early on and you learn the map layout while doing it.

Stats and skills

Open the stat panel with Tab; points arrive as you level. Early on, do not spread them evenly — commit to a direction. Casters stack mana-related stats, melee stacks physical and survivability. Skills unlock with tokens, one token per skill; once you have chosen one, get comfortable with it before chasing others.

After level 15

The October release walkthrough identifies level 15 as the Arcane Whispers requirement and distinguishes it from level 10 during testing. Track that quest in the Journal and follow its objective. The magic guide gives the route, and magic rarity attributes the published draw weights.

Beginner mistakes worth avoiding

The saved guide describes a weapon-type restriction, but this website has not tested current change options. Do not wipe a character based only on an older reference. Spreading stat points evenly leaves you mediocre at everything by mid-game. Skipping Johan's flight quest slows down every errand afterwards. And when a fight feels impossible, check the level gap before blaming your inputs — not every problem is a skill issue.

FAQ

Which starter weapon should I take? Light, medium and heavy suit different preferences. Choose the style you want to learn; the current weapon-type change options have not been established here, so an older restriction is not a reason to wipe your character.

Can I skip the tutorial? The experience and tools it gives you — especially flight — are needed later. Skipping costs more time than it saves.

What should I do before level 15? The saved guide lists the quests as a progression route; it does not guarantee a level for every character or version.

Sources and current limits

The tutorial order and quest quantities come from the saved Fandom Beginners Guide and Quests, collected October 24 and reviewed October 25, 2026. The level-15 route is cross-checked against the release walkthrough. Current weapon-change options remain unconfirmed; no fastest-route timing was measured here.
