Clover RPG Magic Guide: Elements, Unlocks and Rerolls
Clover RPG magic explained through attributed sources: seven elements, abilities, the level-15 release route, reroll options and unfinished augmentation.
Updated
How do you unlock magic in Clover RPG?
For the release-version route, reach level 15 and follow Arcane Whispers to obtain your first Grimoire. The October 24 walkthrough explicitly distinguishes this requirement from level 10 during earlier testing. The current BloxInformer magic reference also gives level 15 and the Announcer.
| Source | Recorded requirement | Recorded destination |
|---|---|---|
| Fandom Magics, saved October 24 | Level 15 | Wisdom Peak |
| BloxInformer Magic, checked October 25 | Level 15 | Announcer |
| October 24 release walkthrough | Level 15; earlier testing used 10 | Follow Arcane Whispers |
| Older Gamezebo and Destructoid guidance | Level 10 | Announcer |
At level 15, open the Journal with J and track Arcane Whispers. Follow its objective to the portal, use the Embrace interaction, then speak to the NPC to receive a random Grimoire. This is a sourced release walkthrough; follow any newer objective shown in your game.
The seven obtainable elements
Flame, Light, Wind, Lightning, Shadow, Beast and Time. BloxInformer lists six active-skill slots per element, but its Time table repeats Chronostasis and some passive entries are TBA. Exact completeness remains unconfirmed. The draw weights are 22% each for Flame and Light, 20% for Wind, 15% each for Lightning and Shadow, 5% for Beast and 1% for Time.
Read that distribution carefully before you plan a build. Beast and Time together account for 6% of rolls, so a specific element is never something you can count on. The full table lives on the magic rarity page, and rarity is not a combat ranking — a 22% element can outperform a 1% one in the right hands.
Light: the most complete element
Six skills covering damage, movement and knockdown. Falling Lance drops a spear of light on a point you aim; Slashes of Light swings a light blade through a chain of cuts; Aerial Assault kicks upward, launches the target, then slams down and leaves them briefly floored; Swords of Conviction fires those light blades as projectiles; Diving Light heals you continuously while it holds; Blinding Rush dashes forward and knocks down anything it touches.
BloxInformer records two Light passives. Divine Field expands a healing zone in place while you hold right-click, mending allies inside it. Blindstrike adds a blind to your magic hits on a 7-second cooldown. These descriptions support damage and healing roles, rather than a measured claim that Light is best for every party.
Flame: burst and guard break
Six skills built around pressure. Burst Pistol fires a flame round with knockback; Fiery Grapple gathers four arms of fire to grab a target and detonates on the throw; Scorching Barrage rains fire in the direction you aim; Blazing Dive leaps and crashes down; Binding Flame locks a target in fire chains that break the moment they take damage; Fire Stomp drives your right leg into the ground and breaks guard.
Flame carries four passives, the most of any element. Amplified Wrath adds damage to your basic attack against a burning target; Blazing Meteor converts the fire rain into a single heavy orb while you hold right-click; Infernal Defiance detonates fire when you are being executed, interrupting the attacker and briefly stunning nearby enemies on a 60-second cooldown; Shattering Ember triggers an explosion when your fire magic breaks guard, also on 60 seconds. The latest checked BloxInformer description lists Shattering Ember, while older material is incomplete; its current implementation has not been tested here.
Wind: air mobility
Six skills centred on floating and repositioning. Gale Sphere spins a vortex around you that keeps damaging anything close; Gale Updraft throws enemies and yourself upward together; Tempest Blade fires a blade of wind; Gale Rupture slams the ground and launches everyone on both sides; Rushing Tempest dashes in a chosen direction and hits everything along the path; Tornado summons a funnel that hits floating targets in multiple ticks.
Both passives tie into airtime. Aerial Efficiency cuts casting cost by 30% while airborne, and Blade Storm adds two extra wind blades to Tempest Blade on right-click. These are documented airborne modifiers, not proof that every ground-based Wind build has worse range or damage.
Lightning: lines and spikes
Dragon Impact calls a lightning dragon down from above, Electro Beam fires a straight beam of electricity, Thunder Strike leaps and crashes with lightning, Lightning Barrage is a chained electrified punch, Volt Surge drops a bolt from the sky, and Lightning Shroud wraps you in charge that raises attack and movement speed.
Both passives are still listed as TBA. That matters more than it sounds: the source has not documented the effects, which does not prove that no passive is implemented. Treat any build guide claiming specific Lightning passive values as unverified.
Shadow: stronger at night
Shadow Annihilation releases a homing orb of shadow, Dark Haste is a heavy slash that breaks guard, Shadow Tendril locks a target in place with a tendril — keeping you bound to them, Dark Cyclone delivers a two-part cut, Void Beam summons a shadow hand and fires a void beam on the second press, and Dark Piercer is a short dash.
Fear The Shadows raises your shadow damage at night, and Focused Beam merges the beam into one stronger shot on right-click. Shadow plays as a close-quarters brawler: the tendril is how you close distance, and the reference describes a binding connection.
Beast: close attacks and a projectile
BloxInformer records six skills, including a projectile. Savage Maw fires a biting projectile, Apex Claw forms a magic claw for a slash, Howling Slash lifts a target then slams it, Holy Hunting spins through enemies along your path, Feral Impact is a very fast flying kick with knockback, and Vicious Assault chains slashes in a small radius.
The checked BloxInformer passive section is TBA. Its missing descriptions do not establish whether the live game has implemented effects. Current passive details remain Unconfirmed / 待确认.
Time: control to the end
Time Stop creates a frozen zone that holds opponents, Slow Zone is a slowing field, Chronostasis sends a target into stopped time on hit, Warping Blitz warps above an enemy and slams down, and Palm Thrust seals a target inside a "time chamber". Three passives: Chrono Surge turns your right-click dodge into a mana-costed instant reposition, Temporal Overflow stores one extra time orb per 15 magic power, and Rewind rolls time back to restore part of your health.
Time is listed at 1% in the probability reference. The source describes control and recovery effects, but its six active slots repeat Chronostasis. The exact active-skill count and naming therefore remain Unconfirmed / 待确认.
Where to find trainers
BloxInformer names Ignacio for Flame and Boreas for Wind. Its Shadow and Time trainer names still contain placeholders. Their precise current locations and the missing names remain Unconfirmed / 待确认, so no route is supplied for them here.
Three ways to reroll
If the random element does not suit you, there are three routes: buy a Magic Reroll from the shop with Robux, farm specific bosses for a low-chance reroll drop, or wipe the character and start over.
The boss drops come from Gladiator and Bael, both at low rates, which makes them a long-term grind rather than a quick fix. The third option is the expensive one: you re-level to the unlock requirement, and if the new roll lands on the same element, that time is simply gone. Decide whether you can live with the current element before you take that route.
Variants are not new elements
Variants change appearance only. Flame has Amaterasu, Azure and Holy looks; Light has Moon, Radiant and Scarlet. A lot of players see a colour change and assume they rolled a different magic — the element is unchanged and the damage numbers did not move.
So before you judge a roll, separate "this is a variant of what I already had" from "this is a different element". Otherwise you end up rerolling over a cosmetic you could have kept.
Grimoire augmentation
Fandom, Gamezebo and Destructoid describe a level-50 augmentation quest. The saved Fandom entry explicitly marks the section WIP—TBC, and Gamezebo retains pre-release language. The current trigger, required materials and resulting skill changes remain Unconfirmed / 待确认 rather than being presented as a completed live-game test.
What to look at when choosing an element
The recorded descriptions give Light healing effects, Wind airborne modifiers, Shadow a night-damage passive and Time control effects. These are useful distinctions, but do not establish exclusive roles or a tested best race pairing. For attributed recommendations rather than official balance claims, use the tier comparison.
Decide your target before rerolling
The magic rarity page separates the recorded percentages from guaranteed outcomes. A reroll item and a character wipe are different routes in the sources, so they should not be treated as interchangeable operations. Exact current prices and which learned progress a reroll retains remain Unconfirmed / 待确认.
FAQ
Level 10 or level 15? Use the level-15 release route above. The October walkthrough identifies level 10 as an earlier testing requirement, explaining why older guides differ.
Does a reroll preserve learned progress? The sources describe changing magic, but this page has not verified the handling of every learned skill or item. Treat those details as unconfirmed before spending anything.
Are blank passives absent from the game? Not necessarily. TBA describes the reference page's documentation state, not proof of implementation status.
